Who is responsible
The Institute of Development and Economic Research (IDER) is the data controller for its website enquiries, applications, newsletter and client-access administration. Contact the Executive Director at info@iderafrica.com or Suite 402, 4th Floor, Atlantic Tower, Airport City, Accra, Ghana. You may use “Privacy request” in your subject line.
Information you provide
We collect the contact details, organisation information and enquiry content you choose to submit, together with the enquiry category and any optional brief or application information. Required fields are identified. Please send only information necessary for your enquiry; do not include participant records, identity documents or sensitive personal information in an initial message.
Why we use it
We use enquiry information to understand your request, contact you, assess a potential assignment or partnership, and maintain a record of the discussion. A careers submission is used to assess the opportunity or expert-network interest you describe. Submitting an enquiry does not enrol you in marketing. Newsletter sign-up has a separate, optional choice.
Storage and access
Submitting a website form creates a stored enquiry record. Our standard is to limit access to authorised people who need it for that purpose and to use service providers only under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection arrangements. We do not sell enquiry information.
Optional attachments
If an upload option is available, attachments enter private quarantine and remain unavailable for normal review until the required security check is verified. Submission is not confirmation that a file is safe or has been reviewed. For restricted material, ask us to agree an appropriate transfer method first.
Your choices and rights
Contact info@iderafrica.com to request access, correction or deletion, raise an objection, or withdraw an optional consent. Applicable legal conditions and exceptions may affect a request. We may ask for enough information to verify your identity and locate the record. You may also raise a data-protection concern with Ghana’s Data Protection Commission.
Research and international assignments
This website notice does not replace a study-specific participant notice, consent process or client data-processing agreement. Those documents must identify the relevant organisations, purposes, recipients, safeguards, retention arrangements and any international processing before the work begins.
Changes
We will update this notice when website processing changes. The review date identifies the most recent content review; it is not a certification of legal compliance.
Privacy notice version: IDER-WEBSITE-PRIVACY-2026-10-07-v12. Consent-based visitor statistics and the public activity dashboard were added on 7 October 2026.
Consultations and client endorsements
Consultation requests include your chosen time, name, email, organisation and research question. IDER staff review and confirm or cancel appointments; signed-in clients can see requests associated with their email. Availability is published by staff, and requests do not automatically generate meeting invitations.
Client endorsements and institutional profiles are published only after an administrator records supporting evidence and publication permission. The public statement includes the authorised attribution and assignment context. Private source and permission references are restricted to editorial staff. Archived or overdue endorsements are excluded from public display. Contact IDER to request correction or withdrawal.
Institutional accountability
The public accountable role is Executive Director. Privacy and review contact: info@iderafrica.com. Institutional authority to publish and implement these arrangements was confirmed on 12 September 2026.
Services used by this website
Sites hosting uses Cloudflare Workers, a D1 database and private R2 object storage. Staff sign in with their official IDER email and a workspace password. IDER stores salted password hashes, staff roles, account status, session-token hashes and account activity logs. Passwords are never stored in readable form. Client portal authentication continues through the hosting identity service. The website also stores enquiries, consent records and approved resources. Processing locations and provider agreements require verification before any country-specific data-residency commitment.
Transactional enquiry receipts and opted-in research newsletters are sent through IDER’s authenticated delivery bridge on its Aveshost hosting account. The delivery service receives the recipient’s email address and message content. Staff alerts contain a reference and a protected workspace link; they do not attach the client’s research brief or uploaded documents. Mail infrastructure also processes the technical information needed to transmit and troubleshoot messages. Provider processing locations and contractual safeguards must be checked before any commitment to data residency.
External malware scanning becomes active only after a verified scanning service is configured. An unscanned attachment remains inaccessible. A commercial enquiry never automatically creates a newsletter subscription.
Research newsletter and optional measurement
The research newsletter uses separate consent, a single-use confirmation link and unsubscribe controls. Consent records are dated and versioned. Optional performance measurement excludes staff and client workspaces and begins only after your choice. Missing measurement data is never filled with invented performance values.
Required information and optional choices
You choose whether to contact IDER. Fields marked as required are needed to record and assess the request; if they are not supplied, the form cannot be submitted. An attachment, newsletter subscription and optional website measurement are separate choices. Declining them does not prevent a research enquiry.
A privacy-notice acknowledgement records that you have read how the request is handled. It does not authorise unrelated marketing, participation in a research study or publication of your identity.
Requests, response times and independent advice
Email info@iderafrica.com or write to the published office address to request access, correction or deletion, to object to processing or to withdraw an optional consent. Include enough information to locate the relevant record; do not send an identity document unless a proportionate verification method has been agreed.
Access requests are handled promptly and within the applicable 40-day limit under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, subject to its conditions. A qualifying notice to prevent processing under section 39 requires a written response within 21 days. We explain any applicable limitation and the reason for retaining information. Newsletter unsubscribe controls are available separately.
You may approach Ghana’s Data Protection Commission without first obtaining IDER’s permission. Its current official website is dpc.gov.gh, including information for individuals and complaint routes.
Security concerns
Report a suspected disclosure, lost file or unauthorised access to info@iderafrica.com with the relevant website or study reference. Avoid sending live passwords or unnecessary personal records. IDER’s response process is to restrict affected access, preserve proportionate evidence, assess the people and information involved, and arrange the notifications and remedial action required by the applicable law.
Commercial research purchases
Commercial research in the shop is individually priced in USD for one named user: Ghana’s Consumer Demand Map is US$79, Merchant Payments and Digital Credit in Ghana is US$129, Ghana’s Attainable Housing Market is US$149, and the Ghana Business Outlook and Corporate Planning Scenario Book report-and-workbook package is US$199. The three PDF-only reports total US$357; all four products total US$556. Checkout displays the selected original English editions, delivery format, exact USD total, single-user licence and purchase terms before an order is saved. The Business Outlook package contains its original 159-page PDF and editable 27-sheet Excel workbook in one private ZIP download. You can choose an international USD bank transfer or a buyer-arranged Wise USD transfer to Access Bank; hosted card checkout remains subject to activation. PayPal is unavailable until IDER has an approved merchant arrangement. Institutional and multi-user licences remain available by quotation. An order does not create a newsletter subscription.
When you save an international bank-transfer, Wise USD or card order, IDER records your purchaser name and email, selected product titles, file fingerprints and delivery formats, one-copy USD prices and total, chosen payment method, accepted licence version and time, order reference, creation and update times, and payment status. A report-and-workbook package is one catalogue item and one access grant; its ZIP fingerprint identifies the two original supplied files together. Payment and grant references, verification times, applicable rejection or payment-hold information, and download access records support fulfilment, purchase support, access control and payment reconciliation. Earlier saved orders retain their accepted product, price and licence snapshots.
For international bank and Wise USD transfers, IDER publishes the owner-authorised corporate Access Bank (Ghana) Plc USD remittance details. Your order records the intended bank and its stable remittance reference. If you report a transfer, IDER stores your separate buyer-reported transaction reference and updates the order’s status and modification time; this report is unverified and does not release downloads. Authorised staff match the actual USD receipt and exact order amount against the receiving-bank statement, then record the verified statement reference, receipt confirmation time and confirming staff member before granting access. Historical transfer records retain their original evidence and are not relabelled as Access Bank transactions. The website does not access your bank or Wise account or collect their sign-in credentials.
When card or wallet payments are available, checkout redirects to the provider named on your saved order: Paystack for new orders, or Flutterwave for earlier orders. Card numbers, security codes and wallet authorisation are handled directly on the provider’s hosted page and are not collected by IDER’s website. Starting Paystack checkout sends your email, exact order amount, recorded USD or GHS currency, chosen card or wallet channel and payment/order references to Paystack; Flutterwave checkout also sends your purchaser name. IDER receives limited payment references, verification results and relevant payment-event information. The server verifies the live payment, permitted channel, purchaser email, saved order reference, exact amount and recorded currency before enabling purchased files.
A Wise transfer is arranged by the purchaser independently on Wise’s service, using the beneficiary name, physical address, account and SWIFT details and order remittance reference. The store does not send your order or purchaser details to Wise through an API and does not execute, charge or automatically verify a Wise transfer. Wise processes the information you supply under its own privacy terms and determines supported sending countries, fees, currency conversion and delivery times. Downloads require confirmation of the actual full USD receipt in Access Bank; a Wise receipt or status alone is insufficient.
For a separately agreed institutional or bespoke quotation, or a previously stored assisted-payment enquiry handled privately, authorised administrators record the purchaser’s email, product and file fingerprint, actual received amount and currency, verified payment and accepted agreement/enquiry references, licence terms, issuing administrator, download deadline, access status, and download request times and counts. Access is issued only after the actual agreed payment and licence have been checked. A buyer’s payment report or quotation alone does not prove receipt.
Paystack and Flutterwave process information on their hosted services under their own privacy and browser-storage arrangements and may send receipts according to merchant settings. IDER does not send automatic report-delivery emails. The store has fixed USD and GHS catalogue prices. Paystack Ghana card and eligible wallet payments use GHS; international card issuers determine conversion and fees. International Access Bank and Wise transfers remain in USD. A verified customer payment does not establish the timing or destination of bank settlement. Card and wallet proceeds settle through the bank arrangement approved in the merchant dashboard. The displayed Access Bank USD transfer instructions do not connect that account to Paystack or establish a GHS settlement destination. Merchant eligibility, live credentials, international payments, wallet activation and the correct settlement currency require verification before activation. PayPal remains unavailable without an eligible verified merchant arrangement. Do not send card details, bank sign-in credentials or live payment secrets to IDER in a support message.
Your private order credential is held in your browser session; only its hash is stored on the server. It is sent to the website in a request header or body to review your order and access purchased products. Private order and download credentials must not be shared. PDF and package ZIP downloads remain subject to the individual access deadline, revocation and licence. The download deadline is separate from the licence duration. New shopping orders use single-user licence version ider-single-user-v2-2026-10-04. This permits the named purchaser to edit a listed workbook with private company records and calibrated assumptions; it does not permit sharing or redistribution of either file or its templates. IDER does not collect values you enter into a downloaded workbook through this purchase workflow. Purchase and payment records are restricted to authorised administrators and included in encrypted operational backups. They are reviewed for retention according to their status, applicable obligations and outstanding matters; this workflow does not introduce a new fixed retention period. Contact info@iderafrica.com with your order or enquiry reference for support or a privacy request.
Live chat and the earlier optional performance-metrics collector are disabled throughout the research shop, institutional purchase enquiry and private delivery pages. Consented aggregate visitor tracking on the public store landing page is described below. Browser storage used by the shopping bag and private order session is described in the cookie notice.
The store no longer offers mobile money/GHS or invoice payment-request forms. Previously submitted enquiries remain restricted records containing the information supplied at the time, such as purchaser and billing details, selected reports, requested method, catalogue total and acknowledgement provenance. They are handled privately where appropriate and reviewed under the enquiry retention arrangements described in this notice. Removing the public options does not delete these records, confirm payment or grant report access.
Optional live chat and AI assistance
The chat connection starts only after you choose “Allow and open chat”. tawk.to processes the messages and contact details you choose to provide, connection information and chat-related browser storage. AI service providers may process messages when AI assistance is enabled for the property. The website does not automatically send your signed-in staff identity, enquiry form contents or confidential client records to chat.
Chat is optional and separate from newsletter and performance-measurement consent. Use the website enquiry form if you prefer. Closing or minimising the chat window hides it; to disconnect it, use “Stop chat and reload this page” in Privacy choices. Reloading the page resets the website’s chat permission, but does not delete messages already held by the provider. Do not submit passwords, identity documents or confidential research data in chat.
Live website activity statistics
If you allow optional first-party measurement, IDER records public page openings and high-level actions, such as downloads, searches, form starts and submissions, report selections and secure checkout openings. A random browser-tab session identifier groups events until 30 minutes of inactivity. A visible-page heartbeat helps estimate active sessions during the last five minutes. The dashboard publishes aggregate counts, not individual browsing records.
Analytics records contain only a random event identifier, short-lived session identifier, event type, known public page path, coarse viewport category and server timestamp. They contain no names, emails, IP addresses, submitted form values, referrer URLs, URL queries or fragments, payment credentials or amounts. Known bots and automated checks are excluded, although detection is not complete. Private staff/client areas, report delivery and purchase enquiry pages, and newsletter preference pages are excluded.
The public report-store landing page can record a consented page view, a report being added to the bag or a secure checkout opening. These events do not confirm a purchase. The private order session and purchaser details are never read by the analytics tracker. Live chat and the earlier performance-metrics collector remain disabled throughout the report store.
Event and session records are removed by daily maintenance after 90 days; the initial tracking-start timestamp is retained to explain measurement coverage. Visitor statistics are not included in the encrypted operational purchase/enquiry backup. Change your choice in Privacy choices in the footer. Choosing Essential only stops future measurement and removes this tab’s analytics session identifier; already recorded events remain subject to the retention period.
