Ghana’s 2023 export basket: five products, four-fifths of reported receipts
The five leading HS6 export products represented approximately 79.2% of Ghana’s reported merchandise export value in 2023. That concentration makes a useful starting point for commercial research: exposure to the same export cycle can connect customers that appear to belong to different industries.

Ghana’s lower trade ratio hides a near-flat dollar total in 2022–2023
Ghana’s trade-to-GDP ratio fell from 70.12% in 2022 to 64.39% in 2023. Reconstructing the nominal value behind that ratio produces a different reading: combined exports and imports of goods and services were approximately unchanged in current US dollars.

Ghana’s small firms: bank accounts are common, investment finance remains a separate question
The World Bank’s Ghana 2023 Enterprise Survey separates access to an account from use of bank finance. Among formal small firms, 90.3% had a checking or savings account, while 10.0% used banks to finance investments. A financing study should investigate that distinction directly.

Ghana’s cocoa export mix: what beans and paste can tell an investor
Cocoa beans and non-defatted cocoa paste appear among Ghana’s five leading exported products in the 2023 WITS extract. Ghana’s smaller urban households change the unit of consumer-market research
Ghana’s urban population share rose from 50.9% in 2010 to 56.7% in 2021, while average urban household size fell from 4.1 to 3.3 people. A consumer study should therefore distinguish people, households and purchasing occasions.

Ghana’s electricity lighting gap: a national average conceals two service contexts
In the 2021 census, electricity was the main lighting source for 95.2% of urban households and 72.6% of rural households. The 22.6-percentage-point difference gives infrastructure research a clear geographic question, while leaving reliability and affordability to be investigated separately.

Ghana’s health-insurance coverage: an 8.1-point sex gap in the 2021 census
The 2021 census reported health-insurance coverage of 72.6% among females and 64.5% among males. Comparing the complements shows that the proportion without reported coverage was about 30% higher among males. This identifies a descriptive coverage gap, without explaining its causes.
