Integrity & responsible research

Conflicts of interest

Research should serve the agreed question without undisclosed interests shaping its conclusions.

Identify and disclose

Relevant financial, professional, personal or competing-client interests should be identified before appointment and revisited when circumstances change. A potential conflict must be disclosed to the appropriate decision-maker.

Manage the risk

Depending on the assignment, the response may include independent review, restricted access, a change of personnel, disclosure to the client or declining the work. A fee or client preference must not determine the research finding.

Raise a concern

Send a concern to info@iderafrica.com with the assignment or publication and the interest you believe may be relevant. Where a reviewer is implicated, the matter should be assigned to someone without that conflict.
