Read the assignment and source recordAssignment objective
Identify and register smallholder farmer beneficiaries for WFP’s Farmer Support Activity in four northern regions of Ghana, preparing records for planned cash-transfer support.
Research approach
IDER led field operations, community-based targeting and digital registration. Local teams worked with community committees and project partners on eligibility, validation, complaints and follow-up verification.
Coverage
The assignment covered 17 districts in Northern, North-East, Upper West and Upper East. IDER submitted 16,939 clean farmer records to the WFP database against a target of 17,000.
Analysis
Follow-up work addressed duplicate entries and mobile-money account verification with MTN. The final report records 61 registered but unresolved cases; mop-up fieldwork concluded on 3 June 2023.
Deliverables
Beneficiary registration records, documented targeting and verification procedures, follow-up case resolution and a final implementation report.
Client value and evidence limits
The work prepared a verified beneficiary dataset for WFP’s support decisions and documented field lessons. Registration figures do not establish cash transfers delivered or changes in farmers’ incomes or productivity.
Confidentiality
This summary presents aggregate findings. Farmer identities, identification details and mobile-money information remain confidential; the full report is not published here.
